Help! For Disabled People project supports 884 people in 12 months

DRC's new project Help! For Disabled People has supported 884 disabled people in Birmingham and Solihull during the first 12 months of the project. The Help! project is funded by the Big Lottery Fund for three years and aims to support people with information, advice, social activities and training workshops.

The project sets out not just to give people a helping hand in times of hardship, worry or crisis, but also to bring people together with peers and to participate in training workshops which will help to empower them with confidence and knowledge in the future.

IT success for DRC service users

Twenty four service users of the DRC have achieved an accredited qualification in work related business administration skills. The DRC worked in partnership with two organisations ‘Open College Network West Midlands’ and ‘Right Step Careers’.

‘Right Step’ staff visited the DRC to assess and enrol service users onto the accredited training course and further provided individuals with careers advice and guidance, enabling people with disabilities to explore their skills whilst discussing with them further progression opportunities towards employment.
