International Day of Disabled People
Calling All Arts and Crafts Groups
Arts and Crafts Groups in Birmingham are being encouraged to take part in a competition to design a certificate for an event being organised in Birmingham on 14 November 2007 to mark the International Day of Disabled People.
This year, the Birmingham Disability Resource Centre (BDRC), Cerebal Palsy Midlands and People First will be organising an Awards Ceremony to celebrate the contributions made by many disabled people in Birmingham who have made a real difference to the lives of others.
Louise Simmons, Chief Executive at the BDRC states
“We are inviting arts and crafts groups in Birmingham to support this event by designing a ‘You’re a Star’ certificate which we can have printed and distributed to disabled people who have been nominated for their contributions.
The certificate should be A4 in size and refer to the words ‘You’re A Star Award 2007’. It should also include space for a signature and the words ‘Dr Mashuq Ally, Head of Equality and Diversity, Birmingham City Council’ as he will sign the winning certificates.”
All entries should be submitted to Louise Simmons, Chief Executive, Birmingham Disability Resource Centre, Bierton Road, Birmingham B25 8PQ by no later than Friday 19 October 2007.
The winning design will be chosen by an independent panel of disabled people and the winning arts and crafts group will receive a £50 voucher to spend on arts and crafts materials. The group will also be invited to attend the Awards Ceremony event.
