Become a Member

Information about membership at BDRC

 1. Types of Membership

Memberships are open to: Individuals aged 16 years or over (our constitution does require that a minimum of 60% of the members are disabled people)
Any group or organisation, which is run by a minimum of 60% of individuals with a disability.

Full details concerning Membership are available in the Memorandum and Articles of Association. (Copy available on request from Birmingham Disability Resource Centre).


2. What does being a member mean?
2.1 Being a Limited Company (by guarantee) the Birmingham Disability Resource Centre Limited is duty bound to attract members to the organisation.
2.2 Full members (who have been members for 6 months) would be eligible for election onto the Board of Directors either through being co-opted or .at the Annual General Meeting.


3. What are the benefits of being a member?
3.1 Full members can attend and vote at the Annual General Meeting.
3.2 The opportunity to become involved in the running of the Centre, through participation at regular Centre user group meetings.
3.3 The opportunity to become involved in the decision making process of the Centre.
3.5 Free limited access to the Cyber Café facilities, including access to the Internet.


4. Rules and Conditions of Membership
4.1 All members have to abide by the Birmingham Disability Resource Centre Policy Statement.
4.2 All membership fees must be paid annually, otherwise membership may be Terminated.
4.3 All membership details will remain confidential.


5. What does it cost?
At present the BDRC does not charge for individual membership. However, if you would like to make a donation towards the cost us undertaking our work, cheques should be made payable to ‘Birmingham Disability Resource Centre’.

6. How do I join?
You can obtain an application pack from the BDRC or alternatively download an application form.
