From time to time things can and do go wrong so it is essential that you check your bill regularly even if you are using a second generation smart meter.

Second generation smart meter ( SMETS2 ) : stands for smart metering equipment technical specifications, a new generation of equipment which more accurately reads your metering data and feeds the information back to your provider.

Smart meters are driving down incidents of billing errors and if you do have a smart meter fitted that’s great but it is still advisable to check your bill.

By doing so you can see whether you have been billed for the right meter and whether that meter reading has been entered correctly. We will talk through how to take an accurate meter reading in a later module.
