Birmingham Communities and Neighbourhoods Resilience Group

Ref: MH047
16th June 2008
Dear Colleagues,
Please find enclosed an invitation requesting your attendance at the inaugural meeting of the Birmingham Communities and Neighbourhoods Resilience Group.
The Birmingham Resilience Team (formerly the Emergency Planning and Business Continuity Unit) are very aware that any emergency, however short-lived, can have a long term and potentially devastating effect on individuals, families and communities.
To minimise this impact it is important that the public are aware of the threats and hazards the City faces and how they can prepare and help themselves when emergencies happen.
The formation of the Birmingham Communities and Neighbourhoods Resilience Group is part of our Birmingham Community Strategy for Resilience. The group will provide a venue to communicate with existing and established community and religious groups, the emergency services (fire, police and ambulance) and voluntary organisations to ensure that emergency planning arrangements and response activities meet the needs of the wide range of diverse communities and organisations. It is expected that this group will meet approximately 3 times per year. Occasional sub-group meetings may be organised that will focus on specific areas.
Please download and complete the attached booking form so that we can ensure we make the necessary arrangements for catering, access etc. and are able to communicate with you in the future.
If you have any specific queries or would just like to discuss this area of work in more detail please contact me on 303 4825.
Yours sincerely,
Jan Quigley
