BDRC's Employment Preparation Serivice
The BDRC provides a range of services to assist disabled people and those on incapacity benefit living in Birmingham into jobs, training and education.
Our friendly and professional staff can provide person centred support services including:
- Help to assess your current skills and experience
- Help to identify any training or development needs you might have
- One to one information, advice & guidance about careers, jobs and courses
- Job search
- Assistance with writing CVs and job application forms
- Finding suitable education or training courses
- Preparing you for interviews
- Works experience or volunteer placements
- Support with job retention

Outreach Services
The majority of the above services are provided at the BDRC’s Centre in Yardley, Birmingham and also as part of our Outreach Service. We can visit you at home or at various local community venues, support you by telephone or e-mail if you cannot get to our Centre.
Employment Preparation Courses
The BDRC frequently runs a number of FREE employment preparation courses over 6 half days covering:
- Self Esteem and Self Confidence
- Skills Matching
- How to fill in a job application form
- How to write CV
- Interviewing Skills
- Stress & Time Management
Job Club
The BDRC runs a Job Club at the Centre every Thursday between 12.00am to 2.00pm which provides:
- Access to staff with disability awareness and community languages
- Information, advice and guidance on local employment opportunities
- Job search including access to weekly vacancies
- Access to telephone, photocopier, FAX, computer and internet
- Help with CV preparation and completing application forms
- Interview technique advice
Works Experience Placements
The BDRC is able to help you find suitable works experience or voluntary placements to help you build your confidence, gain new skills and experience or to provide you with a work taster.
New Deal for Disabled People
The BDRC is also a New Deal for Disabled People provider and can arrange suitable New Deal placements upon request.
