
We’re pleased to announce that our Chief Executive, Louise Mckiernan has been awarded an MBE for Services to Disabled People in the Kings New Years Honours List.Louise has been recognised for her work and leadership of the Disability Resource Centre for over 20 years; her work with government providing insight to help shape disability policy including the National Disability Strategy and the Disability Action Plan and, more recently, for her work developing service responses to meet the needs of disabled people during the cost of living crisis.
Louise said ‘I am humbled to receive this award which I do so on behalf of the Disability Resource Centre and the other organisations and individuals I work closely with. I would like to thank my dedicated staff and volunteer team at the Disability Resource Centre who work tirelessly every day to support the needs of disabled people across in Birmingham, Solihull and the Black Country. Over the last 20 years, they have helped the organisation deliver impactful services to over 80,000 individuals. I would also like to thank my fellow members of the West Midlands Regional Stakeholder Network who have worked alongside me to ensure the voice of disabled people across the Midlands is heard by government in shaping future disability policy’
